About Us
Passion that overcomes boundaries:The four musicians of the Nerida Quartet are uncompromising in their approach to music, seeking authenticity and expressiveness beyond convention. Unusual repertoire and exciting programmes make the ensemble’s concerts a special experience.
The name “Nerida Quartett”, inspired by the Nereids of Greek mythology, symbolises water as a strong yet flowing element that can always take on new forms.
The international quartet (Switzerland/Italy/Bulgaria/Germany/New Zealand) has already achieved considerable success since its formation in 2018. In addition to the 1st prize at the ORPHEUS Swiss Chamber Music Competition and the sponsorship prize at the Boris Pergamenschikow Competition Berlin 2019, the ensemble was also a prizewinner at the Schenk Foundation Competition and a finalist at the Prix Credit Suisse “Jeunes Solistes”.
Invitations to international music festivals such as the Festival Musikdorf Ernen, Gent Festival van Vlaanderen or the Heidelberger Frühling take the musicians to stages all over Europe.
The ensemble is currently studying chamber music with Patrick Jüdt at the Bern University of the Arts and, as an aspiring ensemble at the European Chamber Music Academy, also receives lessons from renowned teachers such as Hatto Beyerle and Johannes Meissl. The young musicians received further musical inspiration from members of the Artemis Quartet and the Cuarteto Casals, among others. In 2023, the ensemble was selected to join the MERITA Platform.
